Technical notes
Mobilgard 560 VS is a BN 60 (TBN 60 mg KOH/g, ASTM D2896), SAE 50 two-stroke cylinder oil for slow-speed crosshead engines burning low-sulphur heavy fuel oil, and is well suited to slow-steaming and low-load operation. Its 60 BN balances acid neutralization against deposit control: it carries No Objection Letters from MAN Energy Solutions for fuels up to 1.5% sulphur and from Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD/former Wartsila-Sulzer) for fuels up to 2.5% sulphur, plus Mitsubishi Heavy Industries acceptance. Detergency, thermal/oxidation stability and antiwear additives protect against adhesive and corrosive liner wear at high cylinder pressures. Cylinder oil BN and feed rate must always be matched to actual fuel sulphur and engine condition; confirm final selection with the engine OEM and ExxonMobil.
Compliance
Carries No Objection Letters from MAN Energy Solutions (up to 1.5% S), Winterthur Gas & Diesel/WinGD (up to 2.5% S) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for two-stroke crosshead use on low-sulphur heavy fuels.
