Technical notes

Mobilgard 540 AC is a 40 BN, SAE 50 cylinder oil and one of the first 40 BN lubricants granted MAN Energy Solutions Category II status for newer-generation (Mark 9 and higher) MAN ES two-stroke engines, including dual-fuel variants, plus WinGD LNG/dual-fuel validation. Its lower reserve alkalinity suits low-sulphur and gas-mode operation: VLSFO at or below 0.50%S (MAN ES) or 1.50%S (WinGD/Wartsila/Sulzer), LNG, ethane, methanol and LPG. A balanced detergency formulation maintains piston and liner cleanliness at optimised feed rates while neutralising residual acidity in gas mode. Because BN, feed rate and fuel sulphur must be matched to the specific engine, final grade selection must be confirmed with the engine OEM and with ExxonMobil.

Compliance

Holds MAN Energy Solutions Category II status (Mark 9 and higher 2-stroke, including dual-fuel) and WinGD LNG/dual-fuel validation for low-sulphur, LNG, methanol, ethane and LPG operation.
